Endothermic means that the reaction absorbs heat from the surroundings, and requiring energy be added to it in order for it to take place. An Exothermic reaction, however, releases heat into the surroundings as a result of the reaction.

These terms are used to describe how animals warm themselves for survival. An endothermic animal creates it's own heat - like humans. Exothermic means the animal must get heat from it's environment - like snakes. We used to use the terms Cold Blooded and Warm Blooded. It was decided that these terms were not very accurate and did not really describe what was happening, thus Endo (internal) thermic (heat) and Exo (external) Thermic (heat) are being used instead.

Endothermic means heat is taken in, heat is lost meaning the temperature of the reaction at the end is lower than it was to start with.

I think you mean EXOTHERMIC and this means heat is given out, heat is gained meaning the temperature of the reaction at the end is higher than it was to start with.

Endothermic: absorption oh heat, for example in evaporation of liquids.

Exothermic: releasing of heat, for example in the combustion of materials as fuels, etc.

Exothermic reaction gives out energy (along with products).

Endothermic reaction takes in energy (needs energy as well as reactants to occur).

exothermic reactions release heat when the chemicals react

endothermic reactions require heat to react (take it from the surrounding area, so the temperature drops)
