If you mean physical maps, they're the ones that give some idea of the landform. They usually do this by using different colours to indicate height; for example, land between sea level and 1000 feet might be coloured dark green, land between 1000 feet and 2000 feet might be a lighter green, and so on. Higher land is usually shown in brown, often moving into shades of purple.
