Plutonium is obtained in nuclear reactors:
U-238(n,gamma).................U-239(beta)...................Np-239(beta).................Pu-239
Plutonium dioxide does not readily dissolve in water to create a measurable pH value. However, if it were to react with water, it may form plutonium hydroxide which can be slightly basic. It's important to handle plutonium compounds with care due to their radioactive nature.
I suppose that the isotope formed is Am-245.
Uranium or plutonium is enriched to create to create a core capable of nuclear fusion and fission.
No, it is not true ! Be sure.
A nuclear bomb is any bomb with any nuclear or atomic material inside it, while a plutonium bomb is a specific type of nuclear bomb. Plutonium could be the nuclear material inside the bomb, and if it is, it's a plutonium bomb.
Plutonium can be used in fuel rods for generation nuclear energy. Plutonium can also be used to create an atomic bomb. Simply bring enough plutonium together in a single contained pile, and the critical mass creates a chain reaction liberating nuclear energy through a fission reaction resulting in a tremendous explosion.
Some plutonium chemical compounds; plutonium dioxide, plutonium nitride, plutonium carbide, plutonium nitrate, plutonium trifluoride, plutonium chloride, etc.
Examples: PuO2, plutonium nitrate, plutonium carbide, plutonium chloride, plutonium fluoride etc.
There's no plutonium here. I haven't even seen any plutonium, recently.
Some plutonium compounds: Hydrides: Plutonium dihydride: PuH2, Plutonium trihydride: PuH3 Fluorides: Plutonium trifluoride: PuF3, Plutonium hexafluoride: PuF6, Plutonium tetrafluoride: PuF4 Chlorides: Plutonium trichloride: PuCl3 Bromides: Plutonium tribromide: PuBr3 Iodides: Plutonium triiodide: PuI3 Oxides: Plutonium oxide: PuO, Plutonium dioxide: PuO2, Diplutonium trioxide: Pu2O3 Sulfides: Plutonium sulphide: PuS, Plutonium disulphide: PuS2, Diplutonium trisulphide: Pu2S3 Selenide: Plutonium selenide: PuSe Nitrides: Plutonium nitride: PuN Carbides: PuC, Pu2C3 Borides: PuB2,Pu2B4, PuB6, PuB100 Nitrate : Plutonium (III) nitrate: Pu(NO3)3, Plutonium (IV) nitrate: Pu(NO3)4 And many others.
A plutonium bomb is a type of nuclear weapon that uses pluyonium as the nuclear material. Most plutonium bombs are implosion type. This means that a core of pure plutonium is located in the middle of the bomb, surrounded by conventional chemical explosives. To detonate the bomb and create the nuclear explosion, the conventional explosive is detonated. The explosion surrounds the plutonium core, and the plutonium is heated greatly. This causes nuclear fission(the splitting of atoms to create energy) which causes the bomb to explode. That causes enormous amounts of heat and explosive power. The bomb dropped on nagasaki(plutonium imposion type with a yield of 21 kilotons)completely destroyed a couple miles of the city, with major damage streching even farther. You could get 3rd degree burns for 1.5-2 miles.
Pure plutonium contain only plutonium atoms.
