Bone marrow is where your body makes red blood cells.
Your back has the most red bone marrow.
the bone
for young children, red blood cells are made in the bone marrow, (the soft tissues inside the bone). for teens/adults they are made in the bone marrow mostly in the vertebrae(spine, etc.)
for our body, it is in the bone marrow
red bone marrow makes new blood cells to protect the body.
At birth, all bone marrow is red. With age, more and more of it is converted to the yellow type. About half of adult bone marrow is red. Red marrow is found mainly in the flat bones. In cases of severe blood loss, the body can convert yellow marrow back to red marrow to increase blood cell production.
Red bone marrow makes red and white blood cells. Yellow bone marrow stores fats to be used later when the body needs it. Also as you get older, the red bone marrrow begins to turn yellow due to fat accumulation.
They are made in the red marrow of long bones. The red marrow makes white blood cells and platelets as well. RBCs live for only 120 days.

red bone marrow
Infants grow relatively fast and need quite a lot of red blood cells, which are only produced in red bone marrow. As the infants grow older, much of the red bone marrow is gradually replaced by yellow bone marrow containing a special kind of fat that gives it its yellowish color. If the body needs more red blood cells than the remaining red marrow is capable of producing, some of the yellow marrow changes to red marrow.
