Resistance in an electronics sense is a way of measuring how much an object resists the flow of electrons through itself. Resistance is measured in ohms. It is often characterised by the equation E = I x R where E is the voltage applied across the object, R is the resistance of the object, and I is the current (the "amount" of electrons) flowing through it. An easy way of thinking of this is as a resistor being a piece of tubing with a valve in it and water passing through it. The water represents the current flowing through the resistor and the valve or tap represents its resistance. When the tap is closed, the pipe is said to have infinite resistance, i.e. it is an insulator. It won't allow any conduction or flow. When the tap is gradually opened, it's resistance decreases, and more water/current will flow. When the tap is fully opened, there is no resistance and the water flows unimpeded. In the real world, this third case is not seen except when it occurs as a characteristic of a super-conductor.
