This comes from Scheherezade who was the heroine of the old Persian story "1001 Nights", which was later modified by Arab authors into the now familiar form, and compiled with other Arabized tales of Persian origin.

The Shah, Shaharyar (the Great King, or the Noble King depending on the source of his name and interpretation), having been driven to hate women due to his first wife's unfaithfulness, would take a new wife every night but would have her killed in the morning. So Scheherezade decided that when she was picked, she would tell a story that would so enchant the King that he would allow her to live and continue the following night and this she did so forr 1001 nights until the King allowed her to live. The adjective Scheherzadian is used to describe something that is like an endless night of pleasure and leaves you wanting more.
