e just means the class the numbers mean the engine size if u have a e 320 its a e class with a 3.2 litter motor or a e 500 is a e class with a 5.0 litter the older cars the letters meant some thing but not any more like in the early 90,s if u had a 500 S E L the 500 meant it was a 5.0 littler the s meant its a s class the e meant is was fuel injected and the l meant it was a long body....
