There are several different contexts for the word "skips". Obviously, it is "skipping" with a rope. Perhaps less obvious is the use of "skip" for a large industrial bin. Or, to "skip" something means to leave it out, or not to go, e.g. "to skip school".

"Skips" is also a term used mostly by Europeans to describe Australians. It is derived from the 1960's Australian TV show, Skippy the Bush Kangaroo.
