Every system of measurement needs to be standardised, so that everyone using those measurements means the same thing by them as everyone else. One of the main problems with the US/Imperial system is that the same unit is different sizes in US and Imperial. A US pint is 16 fluid ounces, but an Imperial (UK) pint is 20, also a US fluid ounce is slightly bigger than an Imperial fluid ounce. Up until 1959 US inches, feet and yards were longer than Imperial inches, feet, and yards. Even within the Imperial system the ounce can mean two different sizes; one for ordinary measurements, and a heavier one for precious metals. This confusion can easily be eradicated if the system is standardised and a metre is always the same; a litre is always the same; a newton is always the same etc.
There are more differences than similarities. The only real similarity was that these laws were supposed to be the basis of a much larger expanse of laws. The Roman Twelve Tables were the ancient legislation that stood at the foundation of Roman law and was fashioned by men. The Ten Commandments is a list of religious and moral dictates that, according to the Bible, were spoken by God to the people of Israel. There is your first big difference, Roman law was made by man, whereas the Commandments were given by God. I'm assuming you have a list of both, so you have your work cut out for you.
It mean what you don't what does it mean.
