"The ADL-BDL designations were originally acronyms for A Grade Deluxe and B Grade Deluxe. The deluxe term was once tacked on to the end of the model designation"
They don't use this sort of model designation any more, though you can see by pricing that a stainless steel barrel costs more (more deluxe) than the B Grade version. Similarly, the synthetic stock is way less deluxe than the wood one.
So "BDL" means B-grade De-Luxe, or not quite top dollar, but fine enough for next-to-best.
