According to Jesus:
"... If ye CONTINUE IN MY WORD, THEN are ye MY DISCIPLES INDEED..." (John 8:31).
"Continuing" in God's Word, The Bible means to "believe what it says"... to "place one's Faith in it"... and to "apply it to one's life."
The King James Version translates the word for "continue" in this passage, this way in other passages: "abide, continue, dwell, endure, be present, remain, stand, tarry (for), X thine own." (Strong's Definitions)
So, being a disciples of Christ [indeed]... the Bible says, is to LIVE the Words of the Bible.
"And ye shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free." (verse 32)
"...Thy Word is Truth." (John 17:17)
The Acts of Apostles Chapter 1 talks about Matthias as being the thirteenth disciples.
Some say it derives from the bible. Jesus says something like that his thirteenth disciple will have betrayed him. The thirteenth being Judas.
