Hell appears in The Bible translated from the Hebrew word "Sheol" and the Greek word "Hades". Both these words have the same original meaning - pit or common grave.
The Bible says this about hell - Ecclesiastes Chapter 9 Verse 5 and 10, "For the living are conscious that they will die, but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten." "All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol, the place to which you are going"
This is a very different picture to what many understand hell to be.
Answer:
In the KJV, it actually speaks of only "four" hells. The two mentioned above, of course... but, Jesus speaks of hell "fire"... with which the above are never connected in God's Word.
"...whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of HELL FIRE." (Matt.5:22)
The originally inspired word translated "hell" here is "GEHENNA." It's the name given to a valley region outside of Jerusalem where trash [and the dead bodies of incorrigibly wicked men] were burned. The allusion, here, quite probably, is that the prophesied "Lake of Fire" will be kindled in this valley upon Jesus' return and burn for the duration of His thousand year rule over the nations.
The "fourth" hell is only used regarding the "angels that sinned" in the beginning, using the inspired word: "TARTAROO" or "TARTARUS." It's not so much a "place" as it is a "spiritual condition of restraint."
"...for if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to HELL [tartaroo], and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved UNTO JUDGMENT..." (II Peter 2:4).
God has placed a limitation upon Satan and his angels, preventing them from utterly destroying the world and God's creation, including man... which they would absolutely love to do in their perverted hearts. These hellacious spiritual chains of limitation are placed on them until Judgment Day... when mankind, who is presently subject to demonic influence [short of the utter annihilation of all life on earth], shall judge them:
"...Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? ...Know ye not that we shall judge angels?" (I Cor.6:2-3)
The Bible only speaks of "four" hells... and only one of them has any connection with infernal regions.
