There are many different symbols in Buddhism, but there isn't one in particular that signifies all Buddhism, like the cross is a symbol of Christianity.

  • The lotus flower: A symbol of putiy arising from impurity
  • The wheel of Dharma: A pictoral representation of the Eightfold path and the Unity of Buddhist thought sed by the US Military as the "official" Buddhist grave marker
  • The dorje (lighting bolt): A symbol of enlightenment
  • The mandala: Many potential meanings
  • The swastika: a symbol of luck, merit or good health.

Actually, there are a few symbols within Buddhism. Images of the Buddha aside, there is the Dharma Wheel, which is symbolic of the endless cycle of misery in which we all choose to live, and the awareness of that which leads to the quest to escape it. In Zen Buddhism, there is also the yin-yang, which you have probably seen, which symbolizes the balance of "masculine" and "feminine" energies (more assertive and active vs. more caring and nurturing, for those offended by the gender labels) within ourselves.

1)Buddhism.

2)Buddhism has no "symbol".

3)If you're referring to the Dharmachakra "wheel" that looks like it belongs on the bridge of a ship, then the eight spokes : (wisdom), will represent the eight-fold path, viewed together as traversing the length of the wheel trough the rings as four "scrolls" representing the four noble truths. Outer ring or "rim" as a continuous circle {cycle} : (concentration). Inner ring or "hub" : (discipline).

4)There are others, make one up, I'll become just as relevant.

What are the differences between the Nazi symbol and the Buddhist symbol?

The Nazi symbol, the swastika, is associated with hate, violence, and racism due to its adoption by the Nazi party during World War II. In contrast, the Buddhist symbol, also a swastika but facing the opposite direction, represents well-being, good fortune, and the cycle of life in Buddhist traditions. The key difference lies in the historical and cultural contexts in which these symbols are used.
