What the CEC do for exceptional children is that they provide a voice and vision of special education. They provide a platform whereby these kids are encouraged to maintain maintain their special education values and to maintain areas where they are lacking. CEC means Council for Exceptional Children.
National teaching standards, such as the InTASC standards, provide guidelines for the professional development of all teachers. On the other hand, the CEC (Council for Exceptional Children) new teacher standards focus specifically on the knowledge and skills needed to work effectively with students with disabilities. Both sets of standards emphasize effective teaching practices, but the CEC standards have a more specialized focus on serving students with disabilities.
