Nothing eats a cyprus whip snake. It is at the top of the food chain.
There are several types of snakes on Cyprus, most being harmless to humans, such as the Whip snake, Cyprus Whip snake, Grass snake & Coin snake. The one really dangerous & highly poisonous snake is the BLUNT NOSED VIPER & a bite needs treatment at a hospital very quickly. All hospitals carry antidotes. Another poisonous snake is the Montpellier - not as venomous as the Viper, but its bite must again be treated by a doctor, or preferably, at a hospital. A third venomous snake is the Cat snake, small and usually not dangerous to humans. It still should be avoided as it has venom. Snakes of Cyprus only strike in defence or for food. They do not look to attack humans and will avoid contact unless surprised or disturbed. There is an expert on snakes in the Paphos area of Cyprus, Hans-Jorg Wiedl, known by local folk as 'Snake George.' Unfortunately he has lost his premises near Agios Georgios but hopes to find a new site. Details can be found on the Net, under "Snake George' & he has published an authoritive book on the snakes of Cyprus.
