What does the Ichigo's mean?

In the Bleach series, Ichigo says that his name means: 'Ichi', for "the number 1" and 'go' means to guard or protect.

His father told him his name meant to protect one thing, and he then chose to protect his mother, because he loved her the most of all.

Ichigo also means strawberry, but the separate parts of his name (Ichi and Go) mean to protect one thing.
