The code means an insufficient amont of air flow to the egr valve. Sounds like a bad pump or a clogged hose from the pump to the egr valve.
The 1998 Ford Explorer Sport ( like the four door version , Ford Explorer ) has shock absorbers front and rear
Sounds like the arm and switch in the steering column.
Green. The orange is used for more powerful vehicles like turbo diesels or specialty vehicles im working on explorer in my shop right now and topped off the coolant its green.
where is the pcv valve located at and what does it look like on a 2001 infinity qx4?
Yes , I was looking at one of the Ford websites and for the 4.0 litre SOHC , V6 engine in a 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac it lists : ( Motorcraft EV-268 as the part number for the PCV valve ) The drawing I was looking at wasn't very clear , but it looks like the PCV valve is at the rear of the engine or the rear of thedrivers side valve cover , just below the ignition coil pack with the six towers on it
its on the inside of the car , driver side black box shape like triangle remove the cover,,the flasher,auto-windows and haz-lights
Sounds like your engine thermostat is sticking open
if you have a 2.0 spi motor its in the corner of the valve cover. does not look like a old style pcv valve
There is no recall yet on the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Body Bushings as of Aug 2011.Looks like they were made out of fiberous cork and mine simply rotted out. Ford wants over a $1000.00 at the dealer to buy all these bushings and they are not worth it. Better to buy them from JEGS who have a polyurathane complete set for $167.00 with all the bushings. Torque down to 55 foot pounds and use locktite generously on the bolt threads for best results.
Check your fuel filter. Depending on what may have been in the bottom of the fuel tank it sounds like it sucked up something.
My 1998 explorer sport has 138.000 mile and still runs like new , I have seen them with 200,000 with minor repairs
