The Pandora's Battery (PSP) is basically a hacked psp battery. when you put it into the psp it allows you to enter service mode. a feature which is used by sony and game developers to see if the games the have created work without buring it onto a UMD. it can also allow you to get CFW (Custom FirmWare) which is like OFW (Official FirmWare) but you can play backed psp games from your memory stick and run homebrew applications (Stuff made by psp users).

If you have a psp with software 5.50 and you need it to be 3.90m33 to make a Pandoras battery but you need a Pandoras battery to downgrade it and you cant hard-mod it so what can you do?
Firstly, a 'Pandora's Battery' is a modified battery and a specially prepared memory stick. Both of these can be created on most PSPs, but some recent motherboards are unable to do it - it will be part of Sony's anti-piracy countermeasures.If you are unable to hard-mod your battery, then the only option is to softmod it on another PSP, as well as using that one to create the 'magic memory stick' component too.

pretty sure you cannot use a downgrader (yet) but there is something called pandoras battery which will do it, but you need an extra battery and at least 256MB media card. hope this helps.
