It is just a designation Ford used to specify one model from another. It really does not have a meaning. Like the Fairlane versus Galaxy, or the XL versus XLT.

None. There is no 1969 Ford Galaxie 500XL. In 1969, the XL did not carry the Galaxie name, the same as the LTD. The word "Galaxie" did not appear anywhere on the car, nor on the title or window sticker.
Car, no. Truck, yes. Ford did make a car with the XL moniker but not XL 100. There was the XL, Galaxie 500 XL, & XL GT.
