well it doesnt give an exact definition of what to wear. but it does say that women are not to wear mens clothing and that we (both men and women) are to be modest in our appearance at all times, not just in church.

Clothing in New Testament times was a functional necessity rather than the style statement it is today (at least for the average person), and few could afford numerous options, so there isn't a whole lot said on the subject. Here are a couple of things that are said: 1 Timothy 2:9, 10 - in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. The exhortation to wear "modest" apparel, though directed to women, would apply to men also; not to wear anything that would be overly revealing or distracting to others. (Paul's statement about braided hair, gold, pearls and costly clothing needs to be understood in the context of his times; those were typical trappings of the prostitutes of the day. In essence, Paul was saying, "Don't dress like a whore." We need to apply the modern equivalents.) James 2:1-4 - My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality. For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes, and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, "You sit here in a good place," and say to the poor man, "You stand there," or, "Sit here at my footstool," have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? In this passage, we see one man in "fine apparel" and another in "filthy clothes." Common sense tells us that ifwe have nice clothing to wear to church, we should wear it. If you got an invitation to meet a human dignitary for whom you have great respect, wouldn't you wear your best outfit for the occasion? When you attend church, you're responding to an invitation to be in the presence of the Lord (Matthew 18:20). On the other hand, if we DON'T have particularly nice clothing, that's no reason to stay away from church. God looks on the inner man, not the outward appearance. The idea of "Sunday best" isn't to impress others with your style, taste, or the amount of money you put into your wardrobe; the idea is that out of respect for God, we present ourselves before Him the best we reasonably can.

[Another view would be that the clothing we wear to go to church is not for God's benefit at all. After all, we are always in God's presence, we don't go into his presence when we get to church. God sees the heart, and clothes don't change that. The clothes we wear to church are not for God, they are for the benefit of other people - so what we should wear depends on the place, the occasion and the people! If we're attending a church where most people have little money, it may be appropriate to dress more modestly. And if it's a church where everyone wears nice clothes, it may be more appropriate to wear something at that level, if we have it. In any case, we should probably take 'modestly' to mean modest in a sexual sense too - not showing off what a great body we have, or distracting people from worshipping God.]

I think you should wear a nice out fit depending on your dress code! I think if you are female a fancy shirt or blouse, a skirt, and some sandals or heeled boots! If you are male a pair of not to worn out jeans and then a nice button up shirt preferably striped, and some dress shoes or tennis shoes. But you shoudn't care too much about your looks at church!!

For space sake I will mention only two scriptures I Timothy 2:9-10 and I Peter 3:3-5. Most of the scriptures in the new testament petaining to dress are directed toward women; prime reason being men are aroused sexually by sight; therefore a woman's dress (which includes cosmetics and jewelry) should be modest; not form hugging or excessively revealing; not extravagant to the extent that it begs or cries out look at me and desire me. Instead of cultivating an outward appearance that makes her desirable to the opposite sex The Bible encourages her to cultivate an inner beauty of spirit; by doing so she increases the her value and respect in the eyes of her spouse. Outward beauty fades with time; inner beauty improves with time. The Bible also alludes to the principle that a mans dress should not be effeminate nor a woman's dress masculine.
Let me close by saying what is proper and inappropriate is revealed to the mind of a Christian through the Holy Spirit; it is the work of the Holy Spirit in a persons life to lead and guide into truth and to convince (convict) them concerning appropriate and in appropriate conduct; and dress. If the inside is right the outside is right; if the outside is wrong the inside is wrong; so to fix the problem deal with the inside and not the outside.

Well time changes and things, but in short I'm pretty sure your just supposed to dress appropriately, no showing "body parts" or anything.... As long as it isn't "dirty.."

So in short, don't dress up as lady GaGa

Churches as buildings are not mentioned in the Holy Bible, there are references to the Church meaning the whole Christian community, and of course temples, but not to churches themselves.

In Timothy 2:9, the Bible states that women should wear modest clothing. They should also not braid their hair or wear jewelry made from either gold or pearls.

Can you say you like dresses or you like dress?

Typically, the answer to your question is to say "I like dresses." If you like a particular dress, you should say "I like this dress." If you like the act of putting clothes on your body or on somebody else's body, you should say "I like to dress myself/somebody else."
