The temporal lobe of the brain is responsible for object recognition, including face/person recognition. It also supports higher order cognition involving categories and abstract concepts. The medial temporal lobe houses the hippocampus and surrounding areas which are necessary for memory formation.
It is used for processing speech & vision, and also leveraged for long term memory (it's kinda important). A good example would be when you see your mom, you know to call her your mom because you recognize your mom, your memory tells you it's your mom, and you say the words that are stored in your brain- "Hi Mom!". Most of this just occured because of the TL.
hope this help~
Temporal Lobes
The four lobes of the human brain are: 1) The Frontal Lobe 2) The Parietal Lobe 3) The Temporal Lobe 4) The Occipital Lobe
The olfactory cortex is the part of the brain involved in processing the sense of smell. It is located in the medial temporal lobes of the brain which are the bottom section of the brain.

I believe it is the temporal lobe. Posterior portion of the superior temporal gyrus in the temporal lobe
The hippocampus is part of the medial temporal lobe (MTL), so yes, it is in the temporal lobe.

The visual cortex is located in the occipital lobe. The frontal lobe houses intellect, emotions, behavior and personality, and the parietal lobe houses sensation.

The inferomedial temporal lobe is made up of the hippocampus and the adjacent cortex.
