They are purely symbolic just like the whole Christian religion. Do we need to be reminded that Christ was a Jew? If Christians really wanted to walk the path of Christ and follow his teachings they would be Jews, observe Jewish tradition, and celebrate Jewish holidays. Im sure if Christ truly did exist he would frown upon a religion based on him. And why is there no record of an adolescent Christ. Surely it would serve as an inspiration to adolescents during this difficult time in life.
