They can run fast from other attacking animals, and can hear them approaching. A deer's coat is the perfect camouflage, blending in to the forest or meadow. It's long neck helps it see it's predators from a distance. And its eyes can see in the dark.

Deer modify their environment by eating vegetation. It could be natural plant material, but can be crops, ornamental and landscaping vegetation or vegetables and other things right out of a garden. There is a possibility that eating non-native vegetation can bring deer into conflict with man. The presence of deer in the environment invites their predators into that area as well. It can be wolves or other wild dogs, big cats, bears, and other carnivorous animals. Man will also "manage" deer and will hunt them, and this impacts the environment as well, though not usually very negatively (but there is some debate on the value of hunting).

Deer have adapted to their environment by being fast and agile, having strong muscles for kicking, cupped ears that pinpoint sounds, eyes on the sides of their heads and sensitive noses that pick up predator scents at 150 yards away or more, because they have many predators.
