What does the diaphreagm do?

The diaphragm is the skeletal muscle that works under semivoluntary control to produce breathing. When relaxed it sits in a domed shape bulging up into the thorax. When it contracts it flattens decreasing the intraplural pressure and thus pulling air into the lungs.
