You've got the idiom incorrect, so it doesn't mean anything. You might say "I've got the picture," which means "I see the situationa and understand it." You might also say "I get the picture," which means the same thing in a less formal way. You don't say "something" in the idiom.
Well probably he got influenced because he wanted to do something like art to enjoy with himself.And when he kept doing it, He got so good that he wanted to publish it.
For me i go to either google images or yahoo images. But be sure it's ok to use and put where you got it and remember to put that you own nothing.
