"IV collagen" is the "type-IV" (type 4) collagen tissue found in the human body. Mutations of the genes in these cells are thought to cause kidney failure (and loss of sight and hearing) in "Alport's Syndrome". One of the antigens in its proteins may be responsible for "Goodpasture's Syndrome", an autoimmune disease. NOTE: This term may be neither "IV" nor "collage". The term "Ivy League College" refers to the old, ivy-covered buildings that remain in use at the older universities.
