gold marked 685 is approx. 16K gold. it is more likely that the piece is actually marked 585 but not marked very clearly. this would make it 14K
Yes, only if you mean 685 is 28 more than 657 because 657+28 = 685
Pure gold content is often represented in decimal %'s for example 14 karat is represented as .585 [14 / 24 = .585]. In the case of 14k 58.5% of the jewelry stamped is pure gold [ 24k ]. While the remainder 41.5 % is alloys { other metals added to the pure gold to make it more durable and / or to change its color i.e. white] I suspect that your piece of jewelry is of European manufacture and is approx. 16 karat. However stampings are often hard to read , is it possible that your 685 could actually be 585?
If a ring has a stamp of 685 on the inside of it, it means that the ring is 68.5 percent silver. This type of silver is harder than silver that is of higher quantity.
It is: 685/1
685
685 - 548 = 137
685 rounded to the nearest integer is 685.
1, 5, 137, 685
5 x 137 = 685
411. (685 x .60)
