The Mortal Cup, in the series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare was used by the angel Raziel to create a race of beings called Shadowhunters or Nephilim. In it, he mixed his own blood and the blood of humans for drinking to start the change. The antagonist, Valentine, wants to use the Cup to create a new race of Shadowhunters.
