This a great website with information about Clostridium Tetani - http://www.lcusd.net/lchs/mewoldsen/tetanus.htm Some of the main points include: They can multiply and produce a toxin that effects the nerves and controls the activity of muscles. Lockjaw occurs and is followed by general rigidity of the body, then muscle spasms occur throughout the body. Finally, death is caused by interference with muscles required for breathing. A much safer route would be to just get vaccinated. Alot of states offer free shots, so call around and find out where they are near you.

Clostridium Tetani enters the body through a deep wound, this environment is perfect for the bacteria, as it is an anaerobic bacterium (thrives on places with little or no oxygen) and the bacteria is too deep in the wound to be exposed to any oxygen.

If not treated, C. Tetani can release toxins called "Tetanospasmin" which are released into the bloodstream and lymphatic system. This can cause severe muscle spasms, which can often cause bone fractures and torn tissue.

What is toxin-medicated infection and exmples?

is caused when a living organism is consumed with What_is_Toxin_mediated_infection(as in the case of an infection). Once the organism is inside the human body it produces a toxin that causes the illness. Toxin-mediated infection is different from an intoxication because the toxin is produced inside the human body. An example of an organism that causes this type of illness is Clostridium perfringens.

How does tetanus attack the body?

It is an infectious often fatal disease characterised by violent tonic muscles spasms and rigidity caused by toxin of Clostridium Tetani. C.Tetani are gram positive strictly anaerobic and bear spores. most of the species grow as saprophytes in soil.Wound infections from bacteria. Tetanus bacteria is found in feces of animals Clostridium tetani the bacterium that causes tetanus needs to enter a cut or deep wound.

What is the cause of tetanus?

Tetanus, or lockjaw is a serious infection caused by Clostridium tetani bacteria which produce a toxin that affects the brain and nervous system. The toxin leads to stiffness in the jaw muscles as well as other muscles. The infection can cause severe muscle spasms, serious breathing difficulties, and can ultimately be fatal.Clostridium tetani spores can be found most commonly in soil, dust and manure, but also exist virtually anywhere. If deposited in a wound the neurotoxin interferes with nerves that control muscle movement.

How does bacteria spread in tetanus?

Tetanus is a medical condition characterized by a prolonged contraction of skeletal muscle fibers. The primary symptoms are caused by tetanospasmin, a neurotoxin produced by the Gram-positive, obligate anaerobic bacterium Clostridium tetani. Infection generally occurs through wound contamination and often involves a cut or deep puncture wound. As the infection progresses, muscle spasms develop in the jaw (thus the name "lockjaw") and elsewhere in the body.[1] Infection can be prevented by proper immunization and by post-exposure prophylaxis.[2]

Is there such a cell that is not an organism?

yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! take your pick of any cell in the human body none of them are considered an organism, they are a layer of organization in the human body.

How does the tetanus attack and spread?

Tetanus attacks in open wounds, such as a fresh cut. When soil, saliva, or even feces gets into contact with it, Clostridium tetani attacks the body. Also, Tetanus can occur when rusty nails puncture the skin. Tetanus occurs in the Central Nervous System(brain and spinal cord).

Is a human a multi cellular organism?
