It is a black-yellow-black tri-color with a central gray and white castle mounted over a black shield with a white border, blue-white checked stripe center balanced horizontal and dividing three golden left facing eagle coins or medallions placed two above and one below the border. The design is similar to the breastplate on the Pitt Coat of arms but absent a crown (replaced by the Castle or fortress and void of the symbolic Lion Rampant and the Red deer.) In the Pitt crest the medallions are not embossed with the symbolic American eagle. (Vexillogical Basics 101.)
