By transpiration up their xylem's. Water enters the root because of the pull exerted by the leaving of water molecules from the stomata of the leaves. Also the meniscus formed in plant cells helps with the pull of water up the xylem.

The plants transport system is called the vascular tissuesystem. Two main parts. The xylem transports water and trace minerals from the roots to the leaves. The phloem transports the manufactured sugar from the leaves to wherever it is needed in the plant.
