A few days after the election a ceremony is held that officially installs him in office. It was formerly called the Papal Coronation. A few days after the installation, the pope goes to St. John Lateran, the official cathedral of the Diocese of Rome, and takes possession of his church as the Bishop of Rome. Besides holding the title of Pope, he is also the Bishop of Rome.
