It is the allele of a pair of alleles, the gene, that usually is not expressed, does not make protein product, or is overwhelmingly swamped by the dominant allele.
An allele whose characteristic phenotype is masked by the presence of a second allele is called recessive when used in reference to that second allele.
at least one dominant allele: The answer above ^ is WRONG: The notation TT means that the chromosomes that carry alleles for a certain characteristics both have a dominant gene, which means TT is a two dominant alleles because each T is one dominant allele. SHORTER IS: 2 DOMINANT ALLELES.
A lower case lettered allele means that the allele is recessive.
polydactyly Because it has to do with the frequency of the allele for 6 digits. Although this is dominant, its occurance is much lower than the ressesive 5 fingers. I think Natural selection plays a part in this phalangeal paradox. Maybe the ones with 6 fingers could not buy gloves in the winter so they froze to death,...

By convention yes.
The allele not expressed would be recessive whilst the other is dominant. This would be the case in a heterozygous genotype. Hope this helps

If you mean allele, then the answer is a recessive allele. A recessive allele is dominated by a dominant allele, and generally does not show up physically.

Do you mean allele? An allele is a different molecular form of the same gene.
an allele that is not expressed when paired with a dominant allele. Only expressed when paired with another recessive allele.
