Patriot was a person in the Revolutionary War that served as a Rebel against the British.

Patrician was a person who elected senators to serve their interests in ancient Rome.

The root "patri-" meaning father. The patricians were the most prosperous families of Rome and overtook the Etruscans and therefore being the father and origins of the newly freed country.
