The Sacrament of Reconciliation (or Confession) restores peace in our lives by giving us forgiveness of our sins and reconciling us with God. If one approaches the Sacrament with the correct attitude, one will come out of the confessional knowing that your sins have been forgiven and that you are once again in a state of Grace. And the knowledge of being in a state of Grace brings peace, as if you die in the state of grace, that is, in God's friendship, you will either immediately or after a time in the state of purification be admitted to the bliss of the Beatific Vision in heaven.
