Some people swear they can predict the winter based on the behavior or appearance of squirrels or other animals, but there's no evidence of this. My issue as a scientist is that you're basically saying that an animal, even unconsciously, can predict the weather months in advance. I would be interested in what exactly it's keying in on, because I don't see any meteorological indicators so far in advance that an organism would be able to sense, much less turn around and use to prepare for.
