I was recently stung by a scorpion while at work, and I live in Southern California. While it hurt really, really bad, with pain that peaked over several hours, the actual sting site didn't look like much. I was stung on my knee and the sting site and surrounding area just looked like my pores were enlarging. I guess some people might say it looked like goose-bumps. The people at the emergency room didn't seem too concerned because it didn't look red or swollen, and I actually had to ask them for ice! But the ice helped A LOT! I never wanted to take the ice pack off. Later on while at home, my husband was researching scorpion stings and saw that the majority of cases do not present swelling or discoloration at the sting site. It just doesn't look like much, but it feels horrendous! If you're ever stung, take pain medication immediately- I couldn't because I'm 4 months pregnant!
