Compare the Gas mileage of a European smart car to a US smart car once... with EPA "regulations" the gas mileage of the US version is much lower.. Smart cars are not hybrids. They are single fuel cars. It should also be noted that hybrids provide very little difference between themselves and their gas counterparts. They certainly are interesting auto's but environmentally friendly is a pretty serious stretch.

Hybrids perform better than gas cars. Most hybrids get at least 40 MPG (some get as much as 60 MPG) and are actually no more expensive to repair than a gas car. Seems worth it to me!
