Another way of cheap but still healthy food is to collect fruit of the trees, one of the most popular fruits for the tradition is sugar cone this has a outer marshmallow and inside a hard fruit like an apple.

For a treat once in a while you may want to buy a shotgun and bullets which don't come cheap but you can shoot wild animals like monkeys because their is no law on shooting.

Also Cattle are again quite expensive but you would be able to get meat and milk from it also if your family are needy of money and fast these are quick sellers. The weather doesn't affect the produce of cattle unlike crops and you only need to feed them ruined crops - but lots of it because you'll want to get them pretty beefed up before you decide to eat them!

How do tribes hunt?

The Ticuna tribe are actually more advanced then you might think in terms of hunting. They have a basic diet however, consisting of monkey/bird and fish. Fish is the main source of protein in their diet - and also a good provider for income, because the Ticuna sell their fish to the non-Indian population. They use their specialist canoes (built out of hollowed-out tree trunks). This is commonly practiced by the male members of the tribe. The Ticuna have developed an amazingly specialist fishing technique - they dip the end of a spear into poison, then throw it at a fish with startling accuracy. Something that modern fishermen definitely could not do. They also use firearms to shoot monkeys and birds - but it is rare for more than one man to own a gun. Examples of monkeys they eat are: howler monkeys or lemurs. Hope I helped!! x
