A Distant Mirror was created in 1978.
If you mean by "chronicler" a writer of history books on the subject it would probably be Barbara Tuchman, whose book "A distant mirror" focuses on this century and was a massive bestseller back in the eighties. If you mean a chronicler who lived in that century, Geoffrey Chaucer, writer of the Canterbury Tales, would be the one.
I get mine from various sources and visits to museums as well as reading the work of people from the time. Barbara Tuchman is a good source for information. Her book A Distant Mirror is a good read on the 14th century. Michael Wood's book Domesday A Search for the Roots of England is another reference. Fernand Braudel has written several books The Structures of Everyday Life will give you a sense of how people lived and what they did. Again, Wood has a book called In Search of the Dark Ages that will provide you with info.
Camera lenses that enlarge distant images are normally known as long focus lenses or telephoto lenses. A few specialist lenses use mirrors as well as glass and are frequently referred to as mirror lenses.
This type of telescope is often referred to as a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, and can be short and wide. They have an eyepiece that extends at a right angle from the body, and have a disk in the middle of the lens, behind which is the mirror.
Light from a distant object strikes the top mirror and is then reflected at an angle of 90 degrees down the periscope tube. At the bottom of the periscope, the light strikes another mirror and is then reflected into the viewer's eye. hope this helped :>
Important events Athena the goddess was involved in is helping Perseus the hero defeating the terrifying gorgon by giving him a mirror like shield for his protection.
It allows observation of distant objects without the diffraction spikes caused by the support devices used in most multiple mirror telescopes. More detail can usually be made out.
An image does not produce an image. However, a concave mirror, specifically one witha parabolic figure, forms an image in its focal plane of an infinitely distant object.
A heliograph uses a mirror to reflect sunlight to a distant observer. By moving the mirror, flashes of light can be used to send Morse code. The heliograph was a simple but highly effective instrument for instantaneous optical communication over 80km or more in the 19th century.
When light rays coming from distant object pass through a convex lens or get reflected from the bright surface of a concave mirror, they converge at a certain point. This point is termed as real focus.
A periscope is an optical instrument that uses a system of prisms, lenses, or mirrors to reflect images through a tube. Light from a distant object strikes the top mirror and is then reflected at an angle of 90 degrees down the periscope tube. At the bottom of the periscope, the light strikes another mirror and is then reflected into the viewer's eye.
