Well, honestly I think the tundra biome helps substain life on Earth by providing as a biome that helps the balance, or the equillibrium of Earth. In other words, it helps keep the balance by freezing up all the ice and keeping all the Earth from melting. It's not the best answer in the world, but it's the best answer I can think of.
