Vestigial structures that are no longer necessary by a certain species. For example, a whale is known to have evolved from a wolf. Wolves have a pelvis that was needed to have their legs connected to their bodies. Since they have evolved into whales, losing their legs to swim better, they no longer need a pelvis, but they still have it in their body. This structure, the pelvis, is no longer necessary for a whale, making the pelvis a vestigial structure for a whale. A human's vestigial structure is the appendix.
