It depends on the type of adoption. For overseas adoption, some might go to the child's birth country's government to cover various fees, some might go to the agency who provides care for the child and other children as they wait for families, some goes to the home study agency, some goes to government fees in our own country.
For an adoption in the US, lots of the cost goes to the agency to pay the folks who work with you doing the home study, who work with the birth mother, etc. If you have ANY concerns about costs, a reputable agency will be able to give you a precise cost breakdown. If they cannot, they are NOT the agency to trust.
no, at the pound everything is free no money whatsoever USUALLY
you go to the adoption center and pay them the money and then you adop your friend
Many organizations have a symbolic "Adopt a Wale" program to raise money, but you get no rights to whale ownership. There is no requirement for you to pay any money to adopt a whale; feel free to do so, but understand that you will have no ownership rights to the whale.
No; however, you do have to pay to adopt more than one.
No. If you adopt a child in New Zealand, they do not automatically become a citizen of the United States. You must fill out some paperwork and pay some money. In fact, almost anytime you turn in some paperwork to the government you need to pay money.
Yes, it does cost some money. By adopting an animal from WWF, you pay a certain amount of money to WWF every month.
Just collect and save money in Adopt Me!
A "con"? Not really. Most such "adopt an animal" programs are run by zoos and wildlife sanctuaries that use the money to keep the facility open, to pay for food and vet care, and to expand. In most cases, the specific animal you adopt doesn't get to keep the money, and it doesn't pay for the welfare of that specific animal, but is pooled with all the other donations for the facility's programs. So if 100 people adopt "Larry the Lemur" and nobody adopts "Stinky the Skunk", both animals still get fed, watered and cared for.
