I wish I knew... I have been living with my bird for about 15 years and the only thing that seems to drive her towards procreation is six cans of lager.
Walking sticks (the insects) procreate. If they did not procreate there wouldn't be any. Walking sticks (the kind you use when you go hiking) do not procreate. They are made out of dead wood.
No the word procreate is not a noun. It is a regular verb.
Birds procreate through a process called mating, where a male and female engage in courtship behaviors to attract each other. During mating, the male transfers sperm to the female using a specialized structure called a cloaca, which is an opening for excretion and reproduction. Fertilization occurs internally, and the female then lays eggs, which she incubates until they hatch into chicks. The parents often care for the young until they are capable of independent survival.
By definition, there is no difference. A dictionary will mention as one of its definitions "to create" under defining "procreate".

The need to procreate
Have children, procreate.
They don't.
I live to procreate.
Its often perceived as being "horny". The need to procreate is self-conscious to an extent. It is in every human regardless if they want kids. The want for kids, in my belief, is more culturally driven. The want for sex can be enough to determine an urge to procreate.
To enjoy it / or procreate
Ultimately, the energy that drives a food chain is solar energy. Plants absorb and convert this energy, which insects, birds, and other herbivores transfer up the food chain until it reaches humans.
