∙ 15y agoA semi-synthetic opiod (synthetic opiate), Hydrocodone falls under the headings of analgesic, narcotic and anti-tussive. Pure hydrocodone (almost never prescribed) is a DEA Schedule II med. It's more common brethren, mixed with acetaminophen, aspirin, etc. (vicodin, lortabs, etc.) fall under DEA Schedule III.

∙ 11y agoOxyContin is an opiate and when used as a street drug it is equal to heroin. It is a narcotic pain reliever. It can cause intense euphoria similar to morphine. Today's prescribed OxyContin has a binder so it has extended release proprieties.
