Drug tests range from everything.

If it's a urine test it will detect methamphetamines, marijuana or thc, cocaine, any strong prescripstion drugs such as oxycontin.

Blood tests are a bit more accurate and will pretty much show anything that isn't suposed to be in your system.

You do. Plus they have random urinalyses--you'll wait till you're fairly close to your yard (the yard is where your company parks trucks) then send you a message on your qualcomm "go to the yard." When you get there they tell you to be at the drug lab within one hour.

They can ALSO tell you to go to the yard to get your truck looked at, pick up a new one, or a thousand other things, so you won't know why they want you to go there. Also, if you get in a wreck they will drug test you and alcohol test you even if the wreck wasn't your fault.

If you do drugs driving trucks is not the job for you.

In a regular screen, they test for pot, opiates, cocaine, amphetamines and meth.

Post-accident screens also test for alcohol.

For DOT employees will Valium or sleeping pills like Xanax Ativan or Sonata show positive in a DOT drug test?

Valium and xanax are benzodiazepines and are not tested for on a DOT drug screen at all. In fact, it is illegal to test for these substances on a federal DOT test. The DOT drug screen looks for marijuana, opiates, PCP, amphetamines and cocaine. There's no such thing as a drug it's illegal to test for according to the DOT; they could test you for steroids if they wanted to. The reason they only test fpr those five drugs is that they're the five drugs most likely to be found in a trucker's urine. Considering that most drivers who do drugs are doing so to stay awake, why would any trucker do downers?
