the common bile duct
liver
The three accessory organs of digestion are the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. The liver delivers bile to the duodenum (the first section of the small intestine) first through the hepatic duct and then through the common bile duct. (It also delivers bile to the gallbladder to get concentrated through the cystic duct.)The pancreas delivers digestive enzymes to the duodenum through the common bile duct. The gallbladder delivers concentrated bile to the duodenum first through the cystic duct and then through the common bile duct.
The common bile duct and the pancreatic duct are connected to the duodenum. The common bile duct delivers bile from the liver and gallbladder and the pancreatic duct delivers pancreatic juice from the pancreas.
the duodenum
The Ampulla of Vater..This is the duodenum where the common bile duct and the pancreatic duct empty.
Bile is made in the liver and passes through bile ducts and into the common hepatic duct which carries it out of the liver. From here, it can pass down the common bile duct into the duodenum or take a detour into the gallbladder via the cystic duct.
Bile Duct
The bile duct carries bile to the proximal duodenum (the first part of the small intestines) and to the gall bladder (in most species).
The gallbladder stores bile and when it is needed it is excreted through the common bile duct and joins the duodenum at the ampulla of vater. The gallbladder stores bile and when it is needed it is excreted through the common bile duct and joins the duodenum at the ampulla of vater.Bile is made in the liver and passes through bile ducts and into the common hepatic duct which carries it out of the liver. The common bile duct
The liver has a duct, called the common bile duct, that delivers bile through an opening into the small intestine, the duodenum, called the major duodenal papilla. This duct is joined by the pancreatic duct as they both transport their products into the small intestine.
A few inches into the duodenum is the hepato-pancreatic ampulla, which is the site where the pancreatic duct and the common bile duct of the liver enter.
The bile duct opens into the duodenum (the first part of the small intestines).
