Well, my textbook says he believed citizens duties were to pay taxes, and defend the city.He also pointed out that all the citizens were part of the community and should obey the constitution, which the citizens agreed with.Hope this helps

For Pericles, it was importat to vote. He considered it to be the responsiblity and privilege of every person living in a democracy. Those who did not exercise their right to vote were no better than slaves (who, of course, did not have the right to vote).
