Canaries,or Serinus canaria, is a type of finch. Finches are small birds that live off of seeds, fruits, and tiny insects. If you were so desperate as to go and collect these items, then I suggest you type in a new question like "where to find wild mealworms" or "how to extract the seeds from a sunflower without destroying the edible part". But I am not here to tell you either of these things, I am here to discuss how to care for a wild/domesticated canary.

Birdwatchers tend to need to know exactly what to feed a wild animal, so a good canary hunter always has 3 things.

1:sunflower seeds

2:craisins, raisins, or any other type of small fruit you can get

3: chopped up mealworms(when chopped, the mealworm's scent permeates the area, attracting the critters)

When "hunting" for wild canaries, one tries to look for the perfect place. Usually a field with low trees and bushes is where you will spot the bird. the tricky part is not finding them, the tricky part is getting them to come and eat off you plate. They tend to come eat faster if food is on a silver dish. The reflected light attracts the animals. If you are lucky( I don't recommend this) you can sneak up upon the bird and catch it in a butterfly net. The trouble is that you must now provide the bird with a cage, a drinking bowl, and more food. This isn't very good because the bird will now hate you. However, if you continue your relationship with the bird, it will come to like you in the coming months.

Happy Hunting!
