I'm not an admissions counselor, but I know many of them have communications degrees. A degree may not be required, but you can always go farther in life if you have one. So if your dream is to be an admissions counselor, than I would get a communications degree!
It depends on the college or university. Typically the minimum educational requirement is a masters degree, but at many colleges and universities, a doctorate is preferred. Most have had years of experience within the admissions, and/or student services area.

You can start at the four year college or university, or you can start at your home county community college (much less expensive).
